Uploading & Importing
Upload Media from Your Computer, Cloud Storage, or Social Platforms
The Retriever Digital Signage Media Library allows you to easily upload and organize your media content from a variety of sources, ensuring your team has quick access to the visuals needed for creating slides and playlists. Whether you’re adding images, videos, or graphics, Retriever makes the process fast and flexible.
Uploading Your Media
- Open the Media Library: Navigate to the Media Library Dashboard from your Retriever account.
- Select “Add Media”: Click the upload button to begin adding your content.
- File sizes must be below 1.86GB.
- Supports common image formats such as JPG, PNG, and GIF.
- Supports common video formats such as MP4 and MOV.
- Supports PDF files for use in certain templates.
- Choose Your Source:
- From Your Device: Upload files directly from your desktop or folders.
- Take a Photo: Use your device’s camera to take and upload a photo.
- From URL or External Link: Paste a direct link to a hosted image or video file or do a web search.
- From Cloud Storage: Import content from services like Google Drive or Box.
- From Social Media: Import media from Facebook.
- From Unsplash: Import free stock images.
- Click Upload after you have selected the media you want to upload.
- Depending on the file size and type of media this may take a few moments.
- Add Details: Once your file is uploaded, you may
- Rename it by clicking on the file name.
- Add tags to make your media easy to find later.
- Edit images with crop, rotate, filters and more.
Using Retriever Digital Signage’s Media Library, you can efficiently manage your content from multiple sources, ensuring that your team always has branded, high-quality visuals ready for use in your slides and playlists.
VIDEO NOTIFICATIONS
Upload Videos to Retriever Digital Signage for Branded Displays
Within the Retriever Digital Signage Media Library, you can easily upload video file formats such as .mov or .mp4 while continuing to manage other content. Your upload will process in the background, and once it’s complete, a notification will appear in the top right corner of your account dashboard. This alert lets you know your video is ready to be added to one of Retriever’s customizable slide templates for display on your digital signage screens.
Tagging
Easily Categorize and Organize Media with Retriever Digital Signage
Categorizing your media content in Retriever Digital Signage is fast, simple, and efficient using the Tagging feature. As you upload your images, videos, and graphics, you can apply keywords and descriptions that make it easy to locate your media later when adding content to slides or playlists. This process helps streamline your digital signage content management and ensures your visual assets are always easy to find.
How to Tag Media in Retriever Digital Signage
- From your Media Library Dashboard, click “Select Mode.”
- Choose one or multiple pieces of media you’d like to organize.
- Click “Tag Selected Media.”
- In the prompt, enter relevant keywords that describe your media. These tags help you group and search your content quickly by specific topics or themes.
- Make sure you to click “Save Tags”
- After you “Exit Select Mode” you now can locate tagged media by utilizing our search feature.
Using Retriever’s tagging system keeps your digital signage content library organized and searchable—saving time and ensuring consistent, professional visuals across all your displays.

Searching and Filtering Images and Videos
Filtering Media in the Media Library
When managing images and videos in the media library, there are several useful options.
- Search by Tag or Name: This allows you to quickly find the items you are looking for by typing the file name or any of the tags you have previously added.
- Filter by Date: This allows you to find media items by searching for the date they were uploaded. You can filter by month, year, or both. This option is helpful for locating content to be reused annually. The upload date is displayed at the upper right of each item.
- Filter by Type: This option allows you to quickly locate images, videos, or PDFs.
- Filter by User: This allows you to find all files uploaded by individual users. It can be helpful if you are looking for something you uploaded previously without clutter from other users.
- List View and Grid View: You can toggle between grid and list views to more easily manage media assets.
Filtering Media in the Slide Designer
When managing images and videos in the slide designer, these options apply.
- Search by Name: This allows you to quickly find the items you are looking for by typing the file name.
- Filter by Tags: This allows you to filter items by any of the tags you have previously added.

Editing
Editing Images for Digital Signage
Retriever Digital Signage has editing options in the Media Library. You can access the editor by clicking on the crop/rotate icon next to the preview icon.
- Transform: This option allows you to flip, rotate, and crop your image.
- Filters: This is a list of color filters to apply.
- Adjustments: This section has options to adjust the blur, brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, and saturation of your image. You may also add noise or pixelate effects.
- Text: This lets you add text across your image.
- Border: This option adds a border around your image.
Be sure to save your changes after editing your image.
Deleting
Deleting Media Content Safely in the Retriever Digital Signage Media Library
You can delete photos, videos, and graphics from your account in two ways.
- Delete a single item. In grid view, you can hover an item and a red trash icon will appear in the upper left corner. In list view, the red trash icon is among the actions on the right. Click the icon, then confirm that you would like to delete the item.
- Delete multiple items. Use “Select Mode,” then choose the assets you would like to remove. Once you have the items chosen, you can click the “Delete Selected Media” Button. A popup will show the number of items you have selected and ask you to confirm that you would like to delete them.
Once a file is deleted from the Media Library, it cannot be recovered. However, you can re-upload the file at any time from your computer or connected cloud storage.
Deleting In-Use Media
When you delete a file that is currently being used on an active slide, it will remain visible on that slide until the slide is updated or deleted. This ensures your Retriever Digital Signage continues displaying live content without interruptions, errors, or blank screens.
