To start, log into your account at retrieverdigitalsignage.com.
The first page you should see after logging in is the “Playlists” page. You’ll notice that a default playlist has been created for you. The title of the playlist will be the name you registered with, followed by the word “playlist.”
Playlists are the central hub for everything. They contain Slides and are attached to devices for communication with your audience.
Click on “New Playlist” and then type “My First Playlist” to name it. Make sure “Blank Playlist” is selected, then click “Create Playlist.” You’ll now see it appear on the playlist page, but you won’t see any slides associated with it. Click the “Add a slide” button and then “Add From Template” in the drop down menu. You’ll be presented with an assortment of slide templates to add to your playlist. Find and click on the “Welcome” slide.
This will take you to the slide description page. Here you’ll see a preview of your new slide on the left and your playlist names on the right. You’ll also have the option to choose where in the playlists to place this slide. If it isn’t already selected, click on the box next to “My First Playlist to checkmark it, then click “Add to playlist”. You will be directed to the slide designer.
In the Slide Designer, many editing options are available, and some slides will have different options than others. The looping preview video can be paused or scrubbed by dragging on the timeline. While editing, you’ll notice that the slide preview changes instantly as you work.
Let’s make a few quick adjustments to the “Welcome” slide so you can see how the Slide Designer works.
In the foreground “Content” drop-down menu, click on the Text Area to retype the words that appear on the slide. Replace the text “Retriever Digital Signage” with the name of your own organization. Click “Save and Return.” Your changes will appear in the preview.
Click on “Background” to make alterations to the background, such as color or pattern. Click on the “Design” drop-down menu, then select “Color.” Click anywhere on the color bar to whichever color suits you, then click anywhere else on the screen to exit the window.
You can also switch out the background entirely by choosing “Change Background,” Click it, then select the “Glints” pattern from the library. You’ll be taken back to the slide editor, now showing the change.
When you’re finished editing, you can either save the slide as a draft to be worked on again at a later time, save the slide to be published at a later time, or publish the slide immediately. Click on “Publish,” and that’s it; you’ve successfully published a slide to your playlist.
Retriever has many slide editing options and we encourage you to explore and play with all that it has to offer. For more in-depth looks inside Playlists, Slides, and getting the most out of your Retriever, be sure to check out our training videos.
